Good evening, Mustang Families!

Well, you know the old saying…September showers, bring October…sunshine? Let’s hope so, since we have a lot going on in October!

PTA Survey – closes tonight!

Last chance to share your opinion with us in the PTA parent survey as it closes at midnight tonight. Thanks to the more than 80 parents who have shared their thoughts and ideas with us! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SPEPTA

CALLING ALL ROOM PARENTS!

As we are gearing up for Fall Fest, we are trying to connect to all Room Parents to help us pull off this amazing fundraiser for the school. We are recruiting or looking for rooms parents for the following classes: Johnson, Butler, Carney, Benjamin, Leonard, Scott, and Wilson. If you have an interest or have already raised your hand, please contact Raven Padgett at ravenopadgett@gmail.com so we can add you to our Fall Fest communications.

CRAYON AND MARKER RECYCLING PROGRAM LAUNCH

We are now recycling old crayons for The Crayon Initiative! This organization will collect crayons from schools to recycle and distribute to children’s hospitals. For more information, please visit https://thecrayoninitiative.org/.

We are also now recycling markers through Crayola’s recycling program. We will send any old, used markers that we collect to Crayola for the company to repurpose.

Recycling bins for both crayons and markers will be available outside the multipurpose room and at the front entrance starting October 1st. Please encourage your students to bring in their old crayons and markers for recycling!

BOX TOP COLLECTING FOR $$$$
We are again collecting box tops to raise money for the school! Look for our box top mailboxes made and donated by Caroline Smith and her son, Henry, at the front entrance and outside the multipurpose room. This is an easy fundraiser, folks: look for box tops on cereal, snack, dairy, school supply and frozen product packaging, cut them out, bring them to school, and drop in our mailboxes! For more information, see the link: https://www.boxtops4education.com/.

SHEPHERD GEAR – MORE COMING!

We are now taking orders for hoodies to be delivered the week of Fall Fest (Oct 15). If you would like to place an order, please contact Liz Bradley at shepherdptapresident@gmail.com with your sizing and contact info by Fri, Oct 5. Payment will be made onsite at delivery.

We will also be selling more short and long sleeve t-shirts before the next PTA meeting on Wed, Oct 17 at 6 pm and at Fall Fest!

DROP EVERYTHING AND READ (DEAR) PROGRAM REQUESTS

In Ms. Brawley’s Sunday Mustang email, you probably read that the students will now be encouraged to read to themselves or a friend in the multipurpose room from 8:20-8:35 am before going to their classrooms.

The school is looking for book and magazine donations appropriate for all elementary levels. Extra special request is for animal and sports books! If you have items to donate, please bring them to the security desk near the main entrance.
