Fall Fest Was Spectacular!
WOW!!!!!!!
You all really delivered for Shepherd this year at Fall Fest! And we want to THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!
Let’s break it down by the numbers:
• $23,000 was made this year (blowing well past our 2018 gross amount of $18,000)
• 70 family sponsorships were sold (also breaking our previous year’s number of 54)
• 5 key corporate/organization event sponsors – The Parks at Walter Reed, MCN Build, Children’s National, Shepherd Park Citizen Association, and CM Brandon Todd (a BIG thank you to them!)
• 100+ volunteers (parents, staff, teachers and neighbors) helped us make Fall Fest a massive success!!!
• 65 beautiful, dry and sunny degrees!!
• Priceless fun had when we met new friends, dunked Mr. Garner, Dr. Hedlund and others, decorated pumpkins and cupcakes, climbed the rock wall, bounced in the moon bounce, got a Shepherd tattoo, won a Beyblade battle, and played carnival games!

Shepherd Halloween Parade – Thursday, October 31st
Back by popular demand is the Halloween Parade! At 2:30 pm on Thurs, Oct 31st, our
students will parade around the block in costume and can be dismissed afterwards if
their parents are present. Reminder, no masks or weapons as a part of the costumes.
Raising Money for Shepherd Elementary
There are all kinds of ways that you can help raise money to support our school. Some
are one-day only and some are ongoing – help us continue to raise money for
Shepherd!
Shepherd Fall Family Photo Fundraiser – Sun, Oct 27th
Join the Shepherd PTO to raise money for Shepherd and have beautiful family photos
ready for your holiday cards and gifts! We are partnering with the AMAZING Katie Jett
Walls for mini-sessions on Sunday, October 27th, 2019. Sign up here for a
sitting between 8-11 am or from 3-6 pm.
Photos will be taken in the lovely Bishop’s Garden at the Washington National
Cathedral. All proceeds from sitting fees ($65 for a 10-minute mini session) will go
directly to Shepherd Elementary. Prints can be ordered directly form Katie Jett
Walls after the event. See price sheet here.
Supper with Shepherd – Tuesday, October 29th
Join other Shepherd families at Blue 44 Restaurant Night (5507 Connecticut Ave
NW/Washington, DC 20015) on Tuesday, October 29th from 5-10 pm. Advance
reservations are strongly recommended. Call 202-362-2583. Families must bring their
flyer to the restaurant that night and present it to their server in order to earn
money for Shepherd. See Supper with Shepherd page for more info.
Shopping for Shepherd!
Now, you can earn money for Shepherd just be shopping!
• AmazonSmile – Make your purchase through AmazonSmile, and they will donate
0.5% of the purchase price to the PTA. Share this link on Facebook and Twitter to
encourage your friends and family to do the same.

SHEPHERD’S SPRING GALA and AUCTION
Believe it or not, we are going to start planning for our Spring Gala and Auction right
after Thanksgiving! We’re looking for 2 GALA co-chairs and parents/teachers/staff
