– Updates from Dr. Hedlund and Mrs. Rottman (please hold specific, personal issues for the grade-level Back to School sessions)

– Sharing PTO’s goals for the year, as well as volunteer and leadership opportunities

– Hearing about this year’s PTO budget

– Hearing about proposed changes to the PTO bylaws

– Brainstorming ideas on how to build community virtually

This deadline for PTO and LSAT election nominations has been extended to MON, SEPT 21.

Thanks to Michelle Musgrove, Ronnie Pearcy and Julia Marnon Lipton for leading this year’s Nominating Committee.

PTO board positions open to all candidates: Co-Presidents (2), Vice President, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Corresponding Secretary and Recording Secretary. 7 positions in total.

LSAT is a mix of teachers, non-instructional staff, parents and community members who help to advise the Principal on school direction, budget, goals, metrics, etc.  

We will vote online for positions by the end of Sept. More coming soon!


We are looking for all kinds of volunteers – room parents, committee chairs, event support, fundraisers, commlunicators, and more. Please help us by giving us some of your time this school year to help us continue to support our teachers, staff, and students. Sign up here!

Greetings, Parents and Families: As your school psychologist, it is a pleasure to serve you and our Mustangs for SY 2020 – 2021! As we continue to forge ahead during the COVID-19 pandemic, along with the pursuit of racial equity and social justice, it is vital to maintain our mental health wellness.

Throughout the school year, mental health support services and resources will be provided for our students and families, as well as teachers and staff. Remember, we are all in this together! When in need of consultation, virtual sessions for your children, personalized mental health resources, etc., please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail at [email protected].

Updates From Our Shepherd Park Public Library

Shepherd Park Branch Highlights

Teen Book Club will be reading Black Flamingo for the month of September. Black Flamingo is a book by Dean Atta, written in verse where we follow an individual who always finds himself unable to identify with anybody pertaining to ethnic group, gender, and more. The book club will be held virtually on the 30th at 5pm, please email [email protected] to get the link to the meeting.

Family Movie Night: Bundles of family friendly movies are now available! The bags include a movie, a bag of popcorn, activity sheets, and coloring sheets to be used in your next family movie night.

Activity Bags are now available! The bags include crafts supplies and decorations, song lyrics, book recommendations, and coloring pages. The recommended age group is 2-10 years.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with the Library

The DC Public Library proudly celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month from Sept. 15 – Oct. 15 by sharing amazing resources to read, watch, listen to and learn. Additionally, the Library will be offering some great virtual programs for all ages to enjoy.
