“Porchtrait” Family Photo PTO Fundraiser – Sat, Dec 5

We’re bringing back holiday family photo sessions this year – but with a twist! Our photographer, AJ, will come to your home and do pics on your porch, back yard or front yard. You’ll pay the sitting fee as a donation to the PTO and then purchase pics from the photog directly. Photos will be ready about a week after they’re taken.

DATE: Sat, Dec 5th

TIME: 15-min sessions will start at 10 am – everyone will be scheduled based on your location so we can minimize travel time for the photographer and you’ll find out a few days before the event your specific time slot.

COST: $50 sitting fee (donation to the PTO) and packages will run $25-35 and will be paid to the photographer

Click link here to sign up and pay the sitting fee.

IMPORTANT: In the “Add a Note” section on PayPal, please include the address for your portrait location and your name, email and cell phone.

BUY A WREATH AND SUPPORT THE PTO

As we prepare for the holidays during this most unusual year, we’re hoping to help lift spirits and spread cheer! And since we’re all home A LOT MORE, why not have something beautiful to enjoy?

We’re excited to be working with Lynch Creek Farms again this year to do online order and direct home delivery of holiday wreaths and greens for the season. Their products are lovely and anyone across the country can order items and help support Shepherd PTO. Share with your family and friends near and far!

Every time someone shops for holiday decor through our group’s fundraising page, Shepherd PTO will receive 15% of the purchase!

Help us meet our $1000 goal and make purchases online at https://www.lynchcreekfundraising.com/c/253742.

NEXT DCPS PARENT UNIVERSITY – Talking About Race – Dec 3rd at 5:30 pm

Shepherd 180 Fund Support for GIVING TUESDAY – Tuesday, Dec 1

The PTO has recently purchased touchless thermometers and docu-scanners to aid in virtual learning to support teachers and staff this school year.

DC ANNOUNCES NEW COVID TESTING SITES AND EXPANDED HOURS

New Testing Site

On Monday, Nov 23, Nationals Park will open as a new testing site. Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. you can get tested in the GEICO Garage which is located at 16 N Street SE.

Expanded Hours

We are expanding the hours at our other sites. The weekday morning/daytime sites (F Street, Anacostia, and UDC-CC Bertie Backus) will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The evening sites will be open from 2:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. On Saturdays, the firehouse testing sites will continue to operate from noon until 4:00 p.m.

In anticipation of increased demand, on Sunday, November 29 we will also open four firehouse testing sites (Engines 4, 8, 10, and 31) for testing from noon until 4:00 p.m.

Insurance

Beginning Nov 23, we will collect insurance information from people who have health insurance. You will provide your insurance information when you pre-register online, and you will not need to show your insurance card at the site. If you provide insurance, you will not be charged a copay.

Testing remains free, and no one will be turned away or denied testing if they do not have insurance. By collecting insurance information, we can preserve District resources for our ongoing response and recovery.

If you are going to a District testing site, remember to pre-register at coronavirus.dc.gov/register

Use Testing Carefully

Remember: testing has its limitations. A negative test today could be a positive test tomorrow. Testing does not stop you from getting infected, nor does it replace the need to limit your exposure to other people, wear masks, social distance, and practice good hygiene.
