DPR MASTER PLAN meeting – RAISE YOUR VOICE AROUND PROGRAMMING FOR THE NEW SHEPHERD COMMUNITY CENTER AND USE OF THE FIELD FOR THE SCHOOL

DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is excited to announce the next phase of our #Ready2Play Master Plan with a series of upcoming virtual meetings that will focus on parks and recreation within each ward. This is YOUR opportunity to focus on particular recreation centers and parks in YOUR ward that you want to see prioritized for capital improvements and/or new programming in the future. It will also be a chance to suggest new sites for possible future facilities.

The content of each interactive meeting will focus on a particular ward. We will share findings from the Ready2Play citywide survey and senior DPR staff will be present to hear your suggestions and desires.  You can find the links to all of the meetings on our Ready2Play website, or RSVP to the meeting(s) you plan to attend directly below. Once you RSVP, you will receive a calendar invite with all of the appropriate meeting information.

Register here for the Ward 4 meeting on Thurs, Feb 4 at 6:30 pm.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions you’d like to share, please email [email protected].

Capital City Baseball Registration

We’re excited to get your players back on the field this spring with Capitol City Little League. Registration is now OPEN at https://go.teamsnap.com/forms/254841

Obviously, there are many unknowns regarding COVID-19 and the city’s evolving response with regard to outdoor sports programs. These factors outside our control may impact the start and length of our season. Despite this uncertainty, it is our intention to have a season for Spring 2021.  We have established guidelines which will accompany any return to safe play and are aligned with those of the CDC and DC public health authorities, as well as Little League. These guidelines can be downloaded at the registration link above.

We are also sensitive to the reality that difficult times have brought about challenging financial circumstances for some of our baseball and softball families.  We are thankful to have the ability to waive fees for those who are in need. As a community, we will do everything we can to get your children on the field this spring.  Please email [email protected] with requests for registration fees to be waived.

Registration is open through February 28, with reduced Early Bird rates through February 11. If you have any questions concerning registration, please contact [email protected].
