Read Across America Week – Spirit Week!

February 25 – March 1 is Read Across America Week!

Monday – Fox in Socks

Students may wear silly socks.

Tuesday – Cat in the Hat

Students may wear their favorite hat.

Wednesday – Who’ville

Students may wear colorful hair accessories

Thursday – Oh The Places You’ll Go

Students will discuss their career goals.

Friday – The Sleep Book

Students may wear pajamas and receive a Dr. Seuss bookmark.

Saturday – Official Read Across America Day

Read a book with a loved one and share a picture of the experience on social media or bring a hard copy of the picture to school!

Awards Assemblies

Thank you for the feedback on our awards assemblies. The concerns and suggestions raised will inform ongoing discussions with the PTA and LSAT.

Black History Month Assembly

Shepherd Elementary School will celebrate Black History Month by remembering and honoring black music and the performing arts during our annual assemblies on February 28th. The first program for ECE through grade one will begin at 9:30am and the second program for grades 2-5 will begin at 1:45pm. We hope you will be able to join us.

Principal Neal

Principal Neal from Deal will join us this Wednesday for our monthly PTA meeting.

Deal Summer RISE Program

Registration for Deal MS Summer RISE Program is open for rising sixth graders. Interested families are encouraged to register via the following link below, which is also available on the Deal website.

Girls Basketball

Our lady Mustangs will face Lafayette ES at Lafayette at 4:00pm on Monday, February 25th for their last game of the season.

Boys Basketball

Still undefeated, the team will face Hyde-Addision at Eastern SHS in the first round of the play-offs on Tuesday, February 26 at 5:00pm.

Shepherd Tutoring Program

The Shepherd Tutoring Program is in its 22nd year at Tifereth Israel Congregation. Between 5 and 6 pm most Sunday nights, members of Tifereth Israel and the Shepherd Park community are available to tutor students across subject areas at no cost to parents.

Staff Spotlight – Mr. Langrock

A native of Connecticut, Mr. Langrock has been the PE teacher at Shepherd for the past five years. In addition to PE, Mr. Langrock is also the school’s Athletic Director. Mr. Langrock played college basketball for the University of Lynchburg. His favorite food is french toast.
