Spring Egg Hunt – Sat, April 3 at Shepherd Community Center

On April 3rd from 11am to 1pm, DPR will be hosting a Spring Egg Hunt and Basket Decorating Activity at the Shepherd Park DPR location for a small group of children ages 2 to 5 years old.  Participants will participate in an egg hunt on different sides of the School building then join inside the center to decorate in baskets and partake in prepackaged refreshments.  You’ll never know what you will get if you find that special egg!

Due to Phase 2 restrictions, the activity requires registration and will be limited to 8 participants per group including 1 parent based on a first come, first serve registration process.

Please email Ms. Shirleta Settles at [email protected] to register.

DCPS SPRING BREAK MEAL PACKS

Ahead of spring break, DCPS will be distributing 7-day meal packs on April 12th from 10am-2pm in schools across DC. Pre-register at this link by April 2nd to choose your most convenient distribution site and guarantee a meal pack for your student.

WE NEED YOUR HELP – PTO NOMINATING AND AUDIT COMMITTEES

We’ll be doing PTO Board elections at the May PTO meeting and need 3-5 parents to volunteer to be on the nominating committee to hold the official elections. We’ll also need 3-5 parents to serve on the audit committee at the end of the year to close out our financial books. No one related to the current board can volunteer.  If you’re interested in helping, please reach out to [email protected] by April 16.

DEAL Middle School Mulch and FLOWER Fundraising Sale – ORDER NOW!

Getting out in the yard to clean up those gardens? Now the sale includes flowers and potted plants. Get your mulch and flowers through Deal’s fundraiser. Order now and pick is slated through late April.

Get more info here.

SHEPHERD GARDEN CLEAN UP – Sun, April 25 starting at 10 am

Speaking of mulch and flowers, our very own gardener-in-residence, Simon Messing, would love help weeding and planting to shape up our gardens around the school. He kindly spends a lot of free time keeping up with the flower beds, helping our trees and even weeding! Let’s get together (socially-distanced!) to help spread the load. Come when you can and bring some gardening gear.

Shepherd’s Spring Fling Family Engagement Events – April – June

In lieu of a Gala or Auction this year, let’s get together and raise a little money for our school as we plan for Term 4 and next school year! SAVE THESE DATES NOW!

Sat, April 24th at 5pm – virtual family baking class hosted by Tiny Chefs, add-ins include ingredient kits and Shepherd aprons and chef hats to be purchased. Appropriate for all ages.

Thurs, May 6th at 8 pm – Adults-only “Shaken AND Stirred” cocktail making class hosted by the Quarantine Cocktail Club.

End of May – School “photos” to be taken outside in front of the school marquee to make sure this year doesn’t fly by without your sentimental (and cheesy!) annual school picture. Each student will sign up for a specific time.

JUNE (date TBD) – We have some clearance from DCPS to start to do things together OUTSIDE! So, we’re planning a gathering IN PERSON! If you’d like to help plan, email [email protected]
