Basketball Team Tryouts – THIS WEEK
Tryouts for the girls’ team will be on Wednesday, December 4th from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Boys’ tryouts will be on Friday, December 6th from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Tryouts will take place in the multi-purpose room on both days. Only 4th and 5th graders are eligible.
To try out, your child must complete the DCPS Consent for Athletic Participation (AT-13) found here. Filling out the form and attending tryouts, however, does not automatically guarantee a spot on the team. Go Mustangs!

Annual Shepherd Bake Sale – Fri, Dec 6th
We’ll be hosting our annual bake sale this Friday, December 6th from 3:30-6:30 pm and will be looking for donated baked goods (NO NUTS OR NUT PRODUCTS, PLEASE!) as we aim to raise money to help our Shepherd community for the holidays.
Get into the holiday baking mood early and enjoy calories for a cause! Please sign up to contribute a baked good item for drop off on Fri, Dec 6th.
We’re looking for cub/boy scout troops and daisy or brownie troops to help us manage the sale. If your group is interested, please reach out to the PTA at [email protected].
Teacher and Staff Holiday Party – Wed, Dec 18th
The PTA is throwing our AWESOME teachers and staff a holiday party on Dec 18th at 3:30 pm and we need your help! Can you help decorate? Make cookies or cupcakes to decorate? Help us serve food? Help purchase with door prizes? Make some snacks? Help clean up?

Holiday Wreath Pick Up Info
Thanks to everyone who ordered a holiday wreath supporting the Shepherd ES PTA. Wreaths will be available for pick up on:
• Thursday, December 5: 8:00 am – 8:30 am and 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm
• Friday, December 6: 8:00 am – 8:30 am and 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm
• Saturday, December 7: 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
Distribution will take place outside right in front of the school. Please note, we do have a few extras so come on by if you did not get a chance to order in advance.

SCHOOL MORNING REMINDER
Just a friendly reminder that school opens at 8:20 am and only students who are registered for before care may enter the building prior to 8:20 am. To register for before care, visit Star Achievers site.

EdFEST – Saturday, December 14th from 11 am – 3 pm
EdFEST is the District’s annual public school fair. All DC Public Schools (DCPS) and public charter schools that serve PK3 – grade 12 exhibit at EdFEST. You will also find organizations that are key to the educational journey of your child.
WE NEED HELP AT SHEPHERD’S EdFEST TABLE!
We would love parents, students and teachers to help talk with prospective parents and students, answer questions, and help Dr. Hedlund! Let us know if you can do a shift for an hour or so between 11 am-3 pm. E-mail PTA President Liz Bradley at [email protected].
